 Postinfo- the India Post Android Mobile App has been launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Communications & Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Postinfo - Department Posts Android Mobile Application
Postinfo, the citizen centric android Mobile application of Department of Posts developed by Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology .The app provides the following facilities;
1) Tracking
2) Post office search
3) Postage Calculator
4) Insurance premium calculator
5) Interest calculator
Brief description of each facility is given below;
TRACKING: The tracking facility is made available on this mobile app for the following types of mail items.
• Speed Post • Registered Letter • Insured Letter
• Value Payable Letter • Insured Value Payable Letter • Registered Packets
• Registered Periodicals • Registered Parcel • Insured Parcel
• Value Payable Parcel • Insured Value Payable Parcel • Business Parcel
• Business Parcel COD • Express Parcel • Express Parcel COD
• Electronic Money Order (e-MO)

The users can view the status of the above mentioned type of articles by entering the articles number and touching the Track button. The following additional facilities are also available.
• Save the results for future reference
• Share it with others through Android native sharing apps viz. Bluetooth, WhatsApp, Facebook etc.
POST OFFICE SEARCH: By entering first four character of the name of the Post office or by entering the Pin code of the office the users can get a list of matching Post offices. By clicking again on the row the user gets the details like Name of Post office, Street address (location), contact details of the Post office (where ever available) for the selected Post office. The name of the Division and contact details of the Divisional Superintendent (where ever available), details of Regional Postmaster General and the Chief Postmaster General will also displayed.
POSTAGE CALCULATOR: The app will calculate the Postage (tariff) to be paid for all types of articles based on the weight entered by the user. The unique feature of the Postage Calculator is that in single query it shows the tariff chargeable for the following items..
• Ordinary letter • Speed post Domestic *
• Registered letter • Ordinary Parcel
• Registered Parcel • Registered book packet
• Registered book packet containing Printed books • Ordinary Registered book packet
• Ordinary book packet containing Printed books • Book packet containing periodicals
• Book packet containing Registered News papers
• *Domestic Speed Post Tariff depends on distance between place of origin and destination.
• Based on tariff there are 5 slabs of tariff viz. local, up to 200 KM, 201 to 1000 KM, and 1001 to 2000KM and above 2000KM. The calculator shows the tariff for all categories)
PREMIUM CALCULATOR The Department is offering various types of Life Insurance Policies through Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance. The users can check the premium payable for all the eligible types of Postal /Rural Postal Life insurance Policies on the basis of the input entered.
INTEREST CALCULATOR Post office is offering different types of Small Savings Schemes as mentioned below:
• Sukanya Samriddhi yojaana • Recurring Deposit
• Time Deposit (1 year, 2 year, 3 year and 5 year) • Monthly Income Scheme
• Senior Citizen Savings Scheme • National Savings Certificate
• Kisan Vikas Patra

Special Casual leave for regularising absence on account of Bandh etc.

While the Government may issue specific instructions regarding treatment of the period of absence of employees during any particular bandh, ordinary a Government servant may be granted special casual leave as explained below, if the competent authority is satisfied that the absence of the individual concerned was entirely due to reasons beyond his control, e.g. due to failure to transport, or disturbances or picketing or imposition of curfew etc.  If  the absence was due to failure of transport facilities, the special casual leave may be granted if the Government servants had to come from a distance or more 3 miles (5 kms.) to their places of duty.  

         If the absence was due to picketing or disturbances or curfew, the special casual leave may be granted without insisting on the condition that the distance between the place of duty and residence of the Government servant should be more than 3 miles (5 Kms).

Special casual leave in these cases may be granted by the Head of the Department.

E-Commerce Centre of Post to start from Monday 11.05.2015

E-Commerce Centre of Post to start from Monday

Considering the rapid growth of e-commerce business in the country in the recent past, the Department of Posts, through Delhi Postal Circle has taken up a project to establish the e-commerce Centre at Safdarjang, New Delhi-110003.This processing centre will handle exclusively all the e-commerce business with the state of the art technology driven facility for quick and smooth operation starting from booking till dispatch from the centre.

The Centre is equipped with modern technology and newly introduced conveyor belt where parcels get sorted with the help of conveyor belt. As a result, the e-Commerce Centre is now capable of handling 30000 parcels/articles per day. The parcels are collected from the e-commerce customers, processed & dispatched within 24 hours to respective destination through quickest available flight/train, as the case may be.

The leading e-commerce customers, viz., Amazon, Paytm, Yepme, Snapdeal, etc are already availing the benefits of fast, reliable and safe processing of their e-commerce parcels at the newly established e-commerce Centre at Safdarjang in New Delhi.

The e-commerce Centre at Safdarjang, New Delhi -110003 is to be dedicated to the Nation by Sh. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Minister of Communications & Information Technology on 11th May 2015 .

India Post Mobile App is also launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Communications & Information Technology on the occasion. .This is an android based application developed by Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), Mysore. The application includes features like real time tracking of accountable articles, Post Office search, Postage calculator, etc through Mobile Phone.

Circle wise ATMs installation

FSI vendor (Infosys) is to Install 1000 ATMs across the country which is a part of CBS Project. The FSI vendor has engaged M/s NCR for supply of ATMs and M/s AGS as Managed Services Provider (including ATM cash management) as well as Vendor for Site preparation. M/s YCS (Yalamanchili) is the vendor engaged by the FSI for providing ATM switch and solution for Card Management Services (CMS).  Site survey of all 1000 locations for installation of ATMs has been completed.
