Postal stamp on Manipuri Pony released

IMPHAL, April 4: A Postal Stamp dedicated to Manipuri Pony has been released by the postal department, Government of India in the latter’s effort to save the endangered animal.
The postal stamp is of Rs 5 denomination.
The Manipuri Pony Society has expressed profound thanks and gratitude to the postal department, Government of India for producing a postal stamp towards spreading awareness of the plight of the Manipuri Pony.
Speaking to the media during a press conference today at the office of the society, general secretary, N Tombi Raj said the postal stamp was prepared and printed by the postal department recently.
Manipuri Pony is amongst four indigenous horses found in the country, he said.
The current campaign is aimed at spreading awareness of the endangered animal so as save it from extinction, he said.
The other three indigenous horses of the country for which postal stamps have been produced are Kathiyawari, Marwari and Jhanskari, Tombi Raj said.
He also called upon the people to take collective effort to safeguard the indigenous Manipuri Pony
